People treat United Airlines Holdings as a Chicago carrier that always printed UAL after a finished New York book.
The present letters arrived as a merger reprint that left Nasdaq.
An SEC Form 8-K dated 23 September 2010 records that UAL Corporation notified Nasdaq of its intent to delist and transfer the common stock to the New York Stock Exchange upon closing a merger with Continental Airlines.
A joint release attached to that filing records that UAL common stock would keep trading on Nasdaq under UAUA until the transfer was complete.
A company release dated 1 October 2010 records that a UAL subsidiary merged with Continental that day, that the parent was renamed United Continental Holdings, Inc., and that the common stock began trading on the NYSE under UAL.
The same release records that Continental shareholders received 1.05 shares of the new parent for each Continental share.
Bloomberg's first-day tape recorded an early print near 24.75 dollars on 1 October 2010.
The mechanism of 1 October 2010 is a listed-name and exchange transfer of the old UAUA book, not a cash IPO.
The pin is the Broad Street facade of the Exchange, where UAL first printed on the New York tape. Interior trading is not visitable from the sidewalk.
