People treat ONEOK as a Tulsa midstream operator that always printed OKE after a finished New York book.
The 1980 issuer was the successor to Oklahoma Natural Gas Company, founded 12 October 1906 as an Oklahoma pipeline and distribution utility.
Company history and a later corporate profile record that the board changed the corporate name to ONEOK Inc. in December 1980 and kept the gas-service division under the old Oklahoma Natural Gas name.
Electronic price series for the common stock run from 1980.
The present tape is still OKE on the New York Stock Exchange.
The mechanism is a holding-company rename: a listed utility book kept trading while the letters on the tape changed to match the new parent.
The pin is the public Broad Street facade of the 1903 New York Stock Exchange building, the street marker for the tape that has printed OKE since that rename.
Interior trading is not visitable from the sidewalk.
