The Empire, The Dinger and Old Yankee Stadium

First trip to NYC. The future in-laws orchestrated a road trip from Nashville that hit all the major hotspots in the Northeast. It was a dream come true for this west coast boy. Washington DC, Philly, NYC, Virginia Beach were our destinations. One of my regulars "Fast Eddie" at Ruth's Chris hooked the family up with 7 tickets front row in the old Yankee Stadium. Yankees vs Tigers. Mussina vs Verlander. My two favorite teams are the Mariners and whoever is playing the Yankees. Carlos Guillen hit a grand slam and the rest was history. An older man and his son sat directly behind me. After Guillen's dinger the older man stated to his son "Wow...He really wrapped that around Pesky's Pole!" For those who aren't up on baseball knowledge, Pesky's Pole in a landmark in Fenway Park, home to the Boston Red Socks. Boston and New York share the same properties as : oil & water, cats & dogs, Bill Clinton & interns, Trump & taxes. The son turned and looked at his dad and yelled "Dad, Pesky's in Boston.....FAAAACCCK!" And proceeds to leave his father in his seat for the duration of the game. If memories serves me right this home run was in the second inning of a 9 inning game.  I felt bad for the guy but nothing sums up a game at Yankee stadium like hearing some sort of Boston hate and watching the Yankee's lose.
