People treat NetApp as a San Jose storage house that always printed NTAP after a finished Nasdaq book.
The November 1995 issuer was Network Appliance, Inc., a California company founded in 1992 and later reincorporated in Delaware.
The company's investor FAQ records that the common went public on 21 November 1995 at 13.50 U.S. dollars a share in 1995 dollars, and that the same FAQ later restated that offer as 0.84 U.S. dollars on a split-adjusted basis.
An archived copy of the same FAQ page repeats the 21 November 1995 date and the 13.50 U.S. dollar unadjusted price, and lists later two-for-one splits in 1997, 1998, 1999, and 2000.
The present tape is still NTAP on Nasdaq.
The mechanism is a cash initial public offering that put a network-attached storage maker onto the Nasdaq tape under the letters it still uses.
The pin is the public Times Square facade of Nasdaq MarketSite, the present street marker for the tape that first printed NTAP.
Interior trading is not visitable from the sidewalk.
