People treat Starbucks as a Seattle coffee house that always printed SBUX after a finished Nasdaq book.
The first cash offering is dated.
Starbucks investor relations records an initial public offering on 26 June 1992 at 17 dollars a share in 1992 currency.
The same FAQ records that the shares closed that first session at 21.50 dollars.
The company had been incorporated under Washington law, in Olympia, on 4 November 1985.
The letters were SBUX on Nasdaq, not a New York floor listing.
The mechanism is a cash initial public offering of an already-operating roaster and retailer, not a later transfer of an older tape.
The present tape is still SBUX on Nasdaq.
The pin is the public Times Square facade of Nasdaq MarketSite, the present street marker for that tape.
Interior trading is not visitable from the sidewalk.
