People treat Intel as a Santa Clara campus that always printed INTC after a finished microprocessor book.
The October 1971 issuer was Intel Corporation, a California company incorporated on 18 July 1968 as NM Electronics and renamed Intel eight days later.
Intel Investor Relations dates the public offering to 13 October 1971 at 23.50 dollars a share, two cents on a split-adjusted basis after thirteen later splits.
The company's 1971 annual report records the sale of shares through that public offering, net of related costs, at 6,646,262 dollars in 1971 currency, and lists 2,569,877 shares outstanding at year end.
Intel's historical-reports page rounds the raise to 6.8 million dollars at the same 23.50-dollar price.
Nasdaq as an electronic quotation system had opened on 8 February 1971. Intel was among the early names on that tape.
The 4004 microprocessor was announced the next month, on 15 November 1971. The public book was still a memory-chip issuer.
The mechanism is a three-year-old semiconductor shop priced as public research and fabrication capacity before the x86 franchise existed.
Nasdaq MarketSite at 4 Times Square opened in 2000, twenty-nine years after the first print. The pin is that public facade, the later home of the INTC book. Interior studios are not a visitor floor.
