People treat Marsh as a New York risk house that always printed MRSH after a finished New York book.
The legal issuer is still Marsh and McLennan Companies, Inc., a Delaware holding company whose operating brands grew out of the 1905 Chicago combination of Henry W. Marsh and Donald R. McLennan.
In March 1962 the brokerage sold 673,215 shares to the public, the first time the partnership book left a closed shareholder list of a few dozen names.
A 1969 holding-company reorganization put the listed parent on the New York tape under MMC.
On 29 December 2025 the company said the New York letters would change from MMC to MRSH on 14 January 2026 as part of a brand change to Marsh.
The same notice said the legal name and CUSIP would not change and that shareholders need take no action.
Trading under MRSH began on 14 January 2026 on this exchange.
The mechanism is a ticker-and-brand change on an already-listed common book, not a new issue of stock.
The pin is the public Broad Street facade of the 1903 New York Stock Exchange building, the street marker for the tape that stopped MMC and opened MRSH.
Interior trading is not visitable from the sidewalk.
