Finance History | Nasdaq MarketSite — INTU Opened Before TurboTax Joined the Book

People treat Intuit as a Mountain View campus that always printed INTU after a finished TurboTax book.
The March 1993 issuer was Intuit Inc., a California company that began operations in March 1983, incorporated in California in March 1984, and reincorporated in Delaware in the same month as the offering.
Intuit Investor Relations dates the initial public offering to 12 March 1993 on Nasdaq under the letters INTU.
A Microsoft merger prospectus later recorded that Intuit shares began trading on that date and printed a first-quarter 1993 range of 27.75 dollars to 31.75 dollars.
The company's own FAQ lists three later splits: two-for-one on 21 August 1995, three-for-one on 30 September 1999, and two-for-one on 21 June 2006.
ChipSoft, the San Diego shop behind TurboTax, was not yet inside the issuer. The Los Angeles Times dated 2 September 1993 reported the agreed swap of about 7.25 million Intuit shares, valued at 225 million dollars in 1993 currency.
The mechanism is a Quicken publisher listing first, then using the public book as acquisition currency for the tax franchise that later dominated the tape.
Nasdaq MarketSite at 4 Times Square opened in 2000, seven years after the first print. The pin is that public facade, the later home of the INTU book. Interior studios are not a visitor floor.
