People treat Raymond James as a St. Petersburg broker that always printed RJF after a finished New York book.
The 1983 issuer was Raymond James Financial, Inc., the holding company formed in 1969 around the Tampa Bay brokerage Raymond James and Associates.
The firm's own history pages and the encyclopedia company history both record a 14 million dollar initial public offering in 1983 currency. FinanceCharts dates that first sale to 1 July 1983. The same firm history says the 1983 book printed on Nasdaq, and that the New York Stock Exchange approved the listing under the letters RJF in 1986.
The present tape is RJF on the New York Stock Exchange.
The mechanism is a regional-broker listing that changed venues. The 1983 cash was the first public book. The 1986 move put the same issuer on the Big Board tape that still prints RJF.
The pin is the public Broad Street facade of the 1903 New York Stock Exchange building, the street marker for the tape that now prints RJF.
