People treat FIS as a Jacksonville payments name that always printed FIS after a finished processing book.
The first New York issuer was Certegy Inc., spun from Equifax Inc. Equifax distributed 68,600,112 Certegy shares on 7 July 2001, one Certegy share for every two Equifax shares of record on 27 June 2001.
Regular-way trading under the letters CEY began on 9 July 2001. When-issued prints had already appeared from 20 June 2001 under CEY wi.
On 1 February 2006 Certegy closed a merger with Fidelity National Information Services, Inc. The surviving Georgia company took the FIS name and the New York tape changed from CEY to FIS the same day.
The mechanism is a payment-services spin that later absorbed its merger partner and kept the listed shell. The letters changed.
The New York book did not start over.
The pin is the Broad Street facade of the Exchange on the morning the FIS ticker opened. Interior trading is not visitable from the sidewalk.
