People treat Globe Life as a McKinney insurer that always printed GL after a finished life book.
The August 2019 issuer was the same Delaware holding company that had printed TMK since the Torchmark years.
Liberty National had formed that holding company in 1980 after it acquired Globe Life And Accident Insurance Company.
On 8 August 2019 Torchmark Corporation was renamed Globe Life Inc.
The NYSE ticker changed from TMK to GL at the open on 9 August 2019.
The company rang the Exchange opening bell on 12 August 2019 under the new letters.
The mechanism is a name-and-ticker alignment that left the listed legal issuer unchanged.
The pin is the Broad Street facade of the Exchange on that first GL session.
Interior trading is not visitable from the sidewalk.
