Rooftop Prince|Hong Nan-pa House — The Slope Below the Missing Roof

The rooftop is gone. The house on the slope is not.

Hong Nan-pa House stands in Hongpa-dong, a short climb from Seodaemun Station toward Wolam Neighborhood Park. VisitKorea mapped the Rooftop Prince circuit through this exact block: the Korea Meteorological Administration annex in Songwol-dong, the maple bench, then the rise past the composer's house toward the multi-family building where Park Ha's rooftop set was built and later torn down.

Hong Nan-pa lived and composed here. The wooden house is a registered cultural property, open as a small museum on scheduled days. In the drama the crown prince walks this grade in modern clothes that do not fit him. The alley still turns the way it turned in 2012. The rooftop set left no mark. The house and the weather station lawn are what a visitor can still stand on.

Do not knock on the apartments above Wolam Park. The people who live there did not sign up to be a set. Walk the public path instead. The grade is steep enough that you feel the century jump in your calves.
