People treat Microchip as a Chandler silicon house that always printed MCHP after a finished Nasdaq book.
The March 1993 issuer was Microchip Technology Incorporated, a Delaware company incorporated on 14 February 1989 after a buyout of General Instrument's microelectronics business in Arizona.
The company's investor-relations FAQ dates the initial public offering to 19 March 1993 and states the offering price as 13.00 U.S. dollars a share in 1993 dollars, before later splits.
A 2018 Nasdaq closing-bell notice marking the twenty-fifth anniversary restates the same session date.
The common has traded on the Nasdaq National Market, later the Nasdaq Global Select Market, under MCHP since that opening.
The company records eight subsequent splits. The FAQ gives the fully split-adjusted equivalent of the 1993 offering price as 0.285 U.S. dollars.
The mechanism is a cash initial public offering that put a microcontroller and analog book, carved out of a conglomerate chip shop, onto the Nasdaq tape under its own letters.
The pin is the public Times Square facade of Nasdaq MarketSite, the present street marker for the tape that first printed MCHP.
Interior trading is not visitable from the sidewalk.
