People treat Fifth Third as a Cincinnati bank that always printed FITB on the New York book.
The holding company traces to the 1858 Bank of the Ohio Valley. Common shares had printed FITB on Nasdaq until the close on 11 June 2026.
On 1 June 2026 Fifth Third Bancorp told investors, in an exhibit filed with the SEC, that the common stock and the listed preferred depositary shares would leave Nasdaq and open on the New York Stock Exchange.
Regular-way trading under the same four letters FITB began on the New York tape on 12 June 2026. The preferred depositary series opened as FITB PRA, FITB PRI, FITB PRK, and FITB PRM.
The New York Stock Exchange called the move the largest bank transfer in its history. The letters did not change.
The mechanism is an exchange transfer after a finished Nasdaq book. The sidewalk facade on Broad Street is the public pin.
Interior trading is not visitable from the street.
