People treat Iron Mountain as a Portsmouth storage REIT that always printed IRM after a finished New York book.
The February 1996 issuer was Iron Mountain Incorporated, a Boston records company that had operated privately since 1951.
A later company annual report dated the initial public offering to 1 February 1996 on the Nasdaq exchange under the symbol IMTN and put the equity raise at $38 million in 1996 dollars.
An SEC filing from the same year recorded net proceeds of $33.3 million in 1996 dollars and said $6.6 million of that went to repurchase a warrant covering 444,385 shares.
The 2005 annual report printed a split-adjusted IPO price of $4.741 in 1996 dollars.
Bloomberg later dated the market debut to February 1996 and treated the later New York tape as a continuation of that book.
An 8-K dated 20 January 2015 recorded a REIT conversion merger after which the successor shares continued on the New York Stock Exchange under IRM.
The letters IRM still open on that exchange.
The mechanism is a records-warehouse IPO that later converted the same issuer into a listed REIT without opening a second common book.
The pin is the public Times Square facade of Nasdaq MarketSite, the present street marker for the tape that first printed IMTN.
Interior trading is not visitable from the sidewalk.
