People treat Genuine Parts as an Atlanta NAPA shop that always printed GPC after a finished auto-parts book.
The 1948 issuer sold 150,000 common shares at 11.00 dollars each in 1948 currency.
Carlyle Fraser had founded the company in Atlanta on 7 May 1928.
The same legal issuer began trading on the New York Stock Exchange on 20 August 1968 under the letters GPC.
The company's own investor chronology marks 1948 as the IPO and 1968 as the start of the NYSE tape.
The mechanism is a two-step listing: a public book first, then a Big Board print twenty years later.
The pin is the Broad Street facade of the Exchange on that 1968 opening.
Interior trading is not visitable from the sidewalk.
