People treat Garmin as a Schaffhausen navigation shop that always printed GRMN after a finished instrument book.
The December 2000 issuer was Garmin Ltd., incorporated in the Cayman Islands that July.
The operating shops in the United States and Taiwan had run since 1989.
On 8 December 2000 common shares opened on the Nasdaq National Market under the letters GRMN.
The prospectus priced 10,500,000 shares at 14.00 dollars a share in 2000 currency.
The company sold 7,875,000 of those shares.
Selling shareholders sold the other 2,625,000.
The printed book totaled 147 million dollars before expenses.
Company proceeds before expenses were 102,532,500 dollars.
The first session closed at 20 dollars, up 6 dollars from the offer.
The mechanism is a cash listing that also let founding holders leave a slice.
The letters later moved to the New York Stock Exchange on 7 December 2021.
Nasdaq MarketSite at 4 Times Square is the public facade for that first tape.
