You're Beautiful|Ilsan Lake Park — The Public Water the Ilsan Shoot Walked Toward

On 13 October 2009, six days after the first episode, SBS opened the Ilsan set to reporters. The house where A.N.JELL slept was a closed lot. What remains public is the water next door.

Ilsan Lake Park opened in 1996 across 103 hectares of Janghang-dong, Ilsandong-gu, Goyang. The lake itself is about 300,000 square metres. Bridges run to Dalmaji Island and the Weolpajeong pavilion. Joggers take the loop. In autumn the plane trees drop the same yellow the drama used for its mid-season outdoor days.

The production base sat in this new town because Seoul interiors were booked and Goyang still had empty ground. Cast interviews from that open-set afternoon talk about the grind of living in the house. Fans who come now cannot enter that house. They can walk the promenade the crew used between setups. Hanul Square still holds weekend performances. The flower festival still occupies the lawns each spring.

You're Beautiful is a Seoul story that kept leaking into Gyeonggi. Stand on the north bridge at dusk and the apartment towers stack the way they did in 2009. The idol house is gone from the map. The lake is not. That is the pilgrimage that still works on a Tuesday.
