Biography|Amedeo Felisa — The Arese Works Where Product Development Became His Job

The Ferrari years get the headlines.

Eighteen of them were spent first at Alfa Romeo.

Felisa joined Alfa in 1972 in innovation and experimentation.

In 1987 he became head of product development.

By then the company's centre of gravity had shifted from the old Portello works in Milan to the Arese plant, opened in 1963 about twelve kilometres northwest of the city.

The technical offices on Via Giuseppe Eugenio Luraghi were built between 1970 and 1974.

That is the workplace that matches the 1987 title.

Vehicle production at Arese ended in 2005.

Most of the sheds are closed or redeveloped.

What a visitor can still enter is the Museo Storico Alfa Romeo on Viale Alfa Romeo, inside the same industrial perimeter.

The museum building is not his 1972 desk.

It is the public remnant of the complex where he ran product development until Ferrari hired him.

The pin is the museum, the one structure on the old works that still receives the public.

From Arese the next move, in 1990, was Maranello.
