On 12 May 2023 Elon Musk named Linda Yaccarino chief executive of Twitter and of X Corp.
She resigned from NBCUniversal the same day.
She officially started on Monday, 5 June 2023. That evening she posted that the first day was in the books.
The office she inherited was Market Square at 1355 Market Street, the 1937 Art Deco furniture mart that San Francisco had called the Twitter Building since 2012.
Musk said she would focus on business operations while he stayed on product and technology.
Advertisers had pulled back after the 2022 takeover. Recovering that revenue was the job description she accepted.
X left this building in 2024. The stone front on Market Street is still there. The company she ran from it is not.
She stepped down as chief executive on 9 July 2025, after two years.
The pin marks the Mid-Market headquarters as it stood on her first day, not a private office and not a home.
