On 7 August 2010 Apple opened store 300 at 1–7 The Piazza, Covent Garden.
Doors opened at 10 a.m.
Some people had queued since Friday.
It was then the largest Apple Store in the world: three floors in a Grade II market building, English oak and York stone, 300 staff.
Ron Johnson called it the company's most historic shop.
Jobs was not in the piazza. He had walked Opéra a month earlier and skipped this one.
Stephen Fry noted the address: if the products failed, Apple would still own No. 1 The Piazza.
Regent Street, opened in 2004, remained the busier London store.
A visitor still comes off the cobbles into the old market range.
