On 25 September 2008 Apple opened its first store in Switzerland, and its first on the European continent, at Rue de Rive 4, Geneva.
Doors opened at 5 p.m.
Several hundred people stood behind bicycle fencing on a warm afternoon. The first 1,500 received a shirt.
Dark wood front. Steel doors. A vaulted skylight over the main room.
Zurich Glattzentrum opened the next morning.
Jobs was not on the Rue de Rive.
The United Kingdom already had stores. This was the first on the mainland.
Munich would follow in December.
A visitor still comes off the quay into number 4.
