On 6 December 2008 Apple opened its first store in Germany at Rosenstraße 1, Munich.
Doors opened at 10 a.m.
More than 4,000 people stood in the street. The first in line had arrived just after midnight.
Two floors. Sixty staff. Personal Setup, a free hour for new Mac owners, was used here for the first time anywhere.
Ron Johnson had spent four years looking for the site. Steve Cano ran international retail.
Jobs was not on the Rosenstraße.
It was store 251, the ninth country after Switzerland and China.
A visitor still comes off Marienplatz into the glass front at number 1.
