On 21 May 2005 Apple opened Canada's first store at Yorkdale Shopping Centre, 3401 Dufferin Street, Toronto.
Doors opened at 9:30 a.m.
The line ran down the mall and into the parking lot.
The first 1,500 people received a shirt.
It was a single-level mall bay, closer in size to Aventura than to SoHo, with no glass stair and no theatre.
Jobs was not in North York that morning.
Canada was the fourth country after the United States, Japan and the United Kingdom.
The shop is still in the mall.
Eaton Centre downtown would come later.
A visitor still comes off Dufferin, through Yorkdale, to the same tenant line.
