[U2’s official tour archive](https://www.u2.com/tour/date/3988) dates Zoo TV’s opening session to February 29, 1992, at Lakeland Civic Center Arena and names Pixies as the opener.

The audience was shaped before the doors opened. A contemporary [1992 *Hit Parader* business report preserved by U2Songs](https://www.u2songs.com/news/u2_its_a_business) says U2 deliberately booked winter-and-spring arena one-nighters even where longer runs were possible, making demand exceed supply. It records telephone-only sales for the indoor dates, computerized checks that rejected repeat credit-card orders, a four-ticket ceiling, and Lakeland selling out in 4 minutes 49 seconds. The [*Los Angeles Times*](https://www.latimes.com/archives/la-xpm-1992-03-23-mn-3139-story.html) and [*Washington Post*](https://www.washingtonpost.com/archive/politics/1992/04/25/for-fans-whats-4-nights-for-u2/624c9947-bdb5-4992-ad4b-92ac9eb5ba8e/) independently rounded the opening-night sale to four minutes while reporting the tour’s wider fight over ticket brokering. For Zoo TV’s deliberately scarce first night, the telephone line and the computer check became part of the admission infrastructure; the policy rationed access but did not eliminate resale.

The complex later became the RP Funding Center, whose arena is now called Jenkins Arena.
