Concert History | Michael Jackson at Aloha Stadium — A Four-Hour Sellout Created the Second Night

On January 3, 1997, Michael Jackson’s HIStory World Tour opened a two-night run at Aloha Stadium in Hālawa, just outside Honolulu. The second night was created by the first night’s ticket velocity. Essoyan reported that tickets for Friday disappeared in four hours, prompting promoter Tom Moffatt to add Saturday, which also sold quickly. A 2006 Honolulu Advertiser report independently preserved the four-hour benchmark through Aloha Stadium Authority spokesman Patrick Leonard; Billboard’s historical calendar likewise records that the January 3 sale triggered a second date. The claim that this was a venue first is also independently preserved.
