Biography | Omar Abbosh — The City Block Where a Thirty-Year Consulting Career Peaked
kevin
On 1 September 2018 Omar Abbosh became group chief executive of Accenture's Communications, Media and Technology business.
The appointment had been announced in New York on 2 July. It took effect on this date, succeeding Robert E. Sell.
He was already the firm's chief strategy officer, a post he had held since 1 March 2015.
The CMT job was the largest operating P&L of his career.
Accenture's own announcement of the 2019 handover put the unit at 8.8 billion dollars of revenue in fiscal 2019.
He had joined the firm in 1989, when it still traded as Andersen Consulting, and had been made a partner in 1998.
The public London house of that firm now stands at 30 Fenchurch Street.
The sixteen-storey block opened in 2004 as Plantation Place, on the site of the old Plantation House tea and metal exchange. Accenture became the anchor tenant.
In October 2020 the owners dropped the Plantation name. The postal address did not change.
The building is later than his first years in the partnership. It is the City block a visitor can still stand under and name as the UK headquarters of the firm that employed him for three decades.
From here the last Accenture chapter ran quickly.
On 1 November 2019 John Walsh took the CMT chair. Abbosh remained through 29 February 2020.
On 23 April 2019, while he still held the CMT title, PublicAffairs published Pivot to the Future, written with Paul Nunes and Larry Downes.
The book was an Accenture argument about how a firm moves capital from an old core into new work. It was also a public account of the strategy years he had just left.
In June 2020 he joined Microsoft as corporate vice president for Cross-Industry Solutions.
The pin is the Fenchurch Street elevation, next to St Margaret Pattens, with 20 Fenchurch Street rising across Rood Lane.
