Biography | Revathi Advaithi — The MBA She Took on a Former Airfield in Glendale

The buildings at the southeast corner of West Greenway Road and North 59th Avenue in Glendale were not built as a business school.

They went up in 1941 as Thunderbird Field No. 1, a contract primary flying school whose hangars, barracks, and control tower were laid out to read from the air as a thunderbird.

After the war the field became a campus.

By 2005 it housed Thunderbird School of Global Management, then still independent of Arizona State University.

Revathi Advaithi took an MBA in international business here that year.

She was already deep into a manufacturing career that had begun on an Eaton shop floor in Shawnee, Oklahoma, and had passed through Honeywell.

Flex and Eaton later listed this degree next to the mechanical bachelor's from BITS Pilani.

The Glendale campus has changed hands since.

Arizona State University absorbed Thunderbird in 2014.

Arizona Christian University now occupies the former airfield site.

The 1941 hangar in the photograph still stands on that ground.
