元麻布の坂を上りきると、石の鳥居と「氷川神社」の社号標が住宅街の縁に現れる。[麻布氷川神社の公式由緒](https://www.azabuhikawa.or.jp/about/)は、1992年のテレビアニメ『美少女戦士セーラームーン』に登場する「火川神社」、そして巫女・火野レイが暮らす神社のモデルになったと明記している。レイの日常と戦士としての顔が重なる架空の場所には、この境内の輪郭が刻まれている。
神社は戦災で社殿を失い、現在の社殿は1948年に再建された。[港区観光協会](https://visit-minato-city.tokyo/ja-jp/places/432)も所在地を元麻布一丁目4番23号と案内し、国内外のファンが訪れる作品ゆかりの地として紹介している。ここで見るべきなのは、アニメの一枚を無理に重ねる角度ではない。鳥居の右に立つ社号標、石畳が境内へ伸びる短い軸線、木々の奥に赤い建物がのぞく配置である。その組み合わせが、火川神社という架空の社に現実の重さを与えた。
