Biography | Tero Virtala — The Listing Ceremony Was Held at the Studio

Trading in Remedy Entertainment Plc began on 29 May 2017.

The venue on the tape was Nasdaq First North Finland.

The ceremony was not only on Fabianinkatu.

Nasdaq Helsinki posted that the listing event had been held at Remedy's own premises that day.

Those premises were Luomanportti 3 in Espoo.

The offer price was 5.65 euros.

The share closed at 6.69 euros, an 18.4 percent first-day rise.

Virtala, ten months into the job, was the chief executive who took the studio public.

Nasdaq's release recorded more than 4,700 new shareholders.

Proceeds were meant to fund the multi-project model he had been hired to run: more games in parallel, less dependence on a single publisher cycle.

Remedy was the fifth Helsinki listing of 2017 and the second games company on that exchange, after mobile studio Next Games in March.

The ticker was REMEDY.

The First North market is an MTF for growth companies, not the official list.

Five years later, on 4 May 2022, the same shares moved up to Nasdaq Helsinki's official list.

The stock-exchange building at Fabianinkatu 14, the Pörssitalo of 1911, is where the market lives.

The decision and the ceremony were in Espoo.

That split matters on a map.

A visitor who walks only the granite façade in Kruununhaka will miss the room where a mid-size Finnish developer chose to sell equity rather than stay private.

Virtala's later years would include Control in 2019, the buyback of Control rights from 505 Games in 2024, Alan Wake 2 in 2023, and a first self-published multiplayer title in 2025.

The listing is the hinge that made those bets possible with public money.
