People treat Cencora as a Conshohocken wholesaler that always printed COR.
The older New York tape was ABC, the AmerisourceBergen line created when AmeriSource Health and Bergen Brunswig merged.
AmerisourceBergen's 2001 Form 10-K recorded that the combined common stock began trading on the New York Stock Exchange under ABC on 29 August 2001, replacing AmeriSource's AAS line.
On 30 August 2023 the company completed a name change to Cencora, Inc. and a ticker change to COR.
The company's own release that morning said COR would print at the New York open.
No new shares were issued. The common line stayed the same paper under a new four letters.
The mechanism is a rename of an already-listed wholesaler, not an offering.
ABC holders woke up as COR holders. They did not subscribe.
Walgreens Boots Alliance's stake rode the same paper through the change.
The pin is the Broad Street facade of the Exchange, where ABC printed and where COR opened. Interior trading is not visitable from the sidewalk.
