Stairway to Heaven | Hanagae Beach, Muuido — The Sand Where the Piano Stood

The piano is gone. The beach is not.

Hanagae Beach runs about a kilometre along the west side of Muuido, Incheon, at roughly 150 Hanagae-ro in Jung-gu. VisitKorea still lists it as a public shore: fine sand at high tide, a wide flat when the water leaves, open all day. Korean Tourism's old drama page put the childhood house and the beach walk here. The scene fans remember is Song-joo at a piano on the sand, and the two of them rolling their trousers to walk the low tide.

A villa set was built behind the beach for the series and for later productions. By 2021 Incheon Jung-gu was calling the main building an E-grade ruin and talking about demolition. Do not treat that shell as the pilgrimage. The public sand is the scene that still matches the frame.

A bridge reached the island in 2019. Bus 6-1 from Unseo Station now drops at the beach without a ferry. The flats go out a long way. Walk them at ebb and the airport is a low line on the other shore. That is the picture the drama sold, and it did not need the house to keep it.
