Crash Landing on You|Lake Lungern — The Water They Came Back To

Lungern sits on a shelf of turf above a green-blue lake that the Brünig line skirts without fuss. From the slope west of the village the water is a single held note. Houses drop toward the shore in the same pitch they have used for a century. A sign on the road now mentions the drama. The lake does not.

The last episode of Crash Landing on You uses this basin as the country the two of them can stand in together. The house in the shot is a neighbour of the lake, not a monument. Guides still stop the coach long enough for the photograph, then the road climbs toward the pass.

Stand above the church of Herz Jesu and look east. The drama needed a lake that was not Interlaken and a village that would not perform. Lungern still refuses to perform. The train keeps its timetable. The water holds the same colour the camera took home.
