The old Bank of Korea building at 39 Namdaemun-ro is Historic Site No. 280. Tatsuno Kingo’s office designed it; the stone went up in 1912 as the Bank of Joseon. The bank left in 2000. The Money Museum opened here on 13 June 2001. The Renaissance front still faces the crossing at City Hall.
Vincenzo uses this facade as Babel Group. The lawyers and the chairman walk out of a building that already looks like power. Interiors for the firm were built elsewhere. The cameras needed this door.
The museum is public. Go in for the notes and the gold room if the queue is short. Then stand on the pavement and look at the rusticated stone. The series borrowed a central bank and called it a cartel. The masonry did the rest.
