夜の遊園地で観覧車が回り出し、誰もいないはずの園内にかつての歓声が重なる。鈴芽と草太は、光をまとったミミズが空へ立ち上がる前に、廃墟の後ろ戸を閉めなければならない。神戸おとぎの国の果物形ゴンドラと小さなコースターは、その切迫した舞台の輪郭になった。
現実の遊園地は今も営業している。昼間には子どもの声が響き、係員が安全バーを確かめ、観覧車はゆっくり同じ円を描く。だから映画の静まり返った夜景を思い出すと、日常の音が失われる怖さが具体的になる。ゴンドラが頂点を越えて降り始める数分間、眼下の遊具は、町の記憶とは建物だけでなく、そこで鳴っていた声まで含むのだと教えてくれる。
