Esports|Brawl Stars|ZETA DIVISION — The 3-1 Rematch at Elmia

On Sunday, November 26, 2023, ZETA DIVISION’s three-player Brawl Stars lineup returned to the stage at Elmia in Jönköping for a rematch with STMN Esports. STMN had beaten ZETA 3–2 in the group stage two days earlier; now the same teams met in the Grand Final with the championship decided by the first side to win three sets. This was the publisher-run Brawl Stars World Finals, staged by Supercell with ESL at DreamHack Winter 2023. Twelve teams entered four three-team groups, the top two from each group advanced, and Sunday’s quarterfinals, semifinals, and final used a single-elimination bracket. Brawl Stars is a mobile team game in which three-player squads compete across short objective modes rather than one repeated ruleset. A match was best-of-five sets: each set used a specified mode and map and normally required two game wins, so ZETA’s 3–1 result means four different set contests were completed—not four individual games. ZETA fielded GeRo, Nowy297, and MeOw, coached by inso; STMN’s active trio was Zhar, bobby, and sans. ZETA reached the final by defeating Luminosity Gaming 3–2 and Crazy Raccoon 3–2, while STMN arrived after beating Revenant Esports and then sweeping SK Gaming. The final ended 3–1 to ZETA DIVISION, reversing the group-stage result and awarding the organization the $250,000 first prize from a $750,000 pool. The result gave ZETA DIVISION a third consecutive Brawl Stars world title, but it was not a simple continuation by the same players. The organization’s 2021 and 2022 championships had come through East Asian rosters; the 2023 team consisted of three Polish players competing through the EMEA region, making Elmia the place where a rebuilt lineup extended the streak.
