People treat Veeva as the Hacienda campus at 4280 Hacienda Drive that always sold Vault and a life-sciences CRM from a Pleasanton listing.
The first book used another name.
On 11 January 2007 Peter Gassner incorporated Verticals onDemand, Inc. in Delaware. Mark Armenante joined as a co-founder. Gassner had built Salesforce's platform layer and wanted a cloud written for one industry instead of a generic sales tool.
The first public rooms were Suite 210 at 4637 Chabot Drive, Pleasanton. The name became Veeva Systems in April 2009. Emergence Capital put in the Series A in June 2008.
The first product was a CRM for drug and device sales teams, built on Salesforce's platform and sold only to life sciences. Vault later stored the regulated documents those teams could not keep in a general cloud.
The mechanism is industry cloud. One vertical gets its own data model, validation, and audit trail rather than a horizontal suite with a life-sciences skin.
The shares listed on the New York Stock Exchange in 2013. Headquarters later moved down the park to 4280 Hacienda Drive.
The pin is the Chabot suite the S-1 still named, not the later Hacienda gate.
