Biography | Omar Abbosh — The Fontainebleau Campus Where He Took the MBA
kevin
Six years into consulting, Omar Abbosh left the City calendar for a forest-edge campus in Seine-et-Marne.
Official biographies and a later U.S. securities filing record an M.B.A. from INSEAD at Fontainebleau.
Linked professional records date the year as 1994 to 1995.
INSEAD's Europe campus still sits on Boulevard de Constance, on eight hectares at the edge of the Forest of Fontainebleau.
The school's own directions give the gate at 48.406000, 2.685558. That is the pin.
In the mid-1990s this was still the founding campus. Singapore had not yet opened as a second home of equal rank.
The MBA was already a one-year English-language programme drawing mid-career engineers and consultants rather than first-degree students.
He came as a Cambridge electronics graduate who had joined Andersen Consulting in 1989.
He left with the credential the firm used to move people from client delivery into strategy.
The sequence is visible in the later record. After the MBA he stayed inside the same partnership, became a partner in 1998, and spent the 2000s on utilities, resources and corporate development.
The campus a visitor sees now is larger than the one he walked. The Plessis Mornay building, planned from 1995 and opened in 2004, added a quarter of the site's floorspace after he had gone.
The main reception is still in the Constance building. That block was already the public face of the school when he studied here.
Fontainebleau-Avon station is about four kilometres away. The walk from the town is short. The forest begins at the fence.
This is the only French pin in his working life that can be named with a public address and a dated year.
