People treat his eBay years as a 2020 return story.

The first stretch on the public record starts here, on the Hamilton Avenue campus, in 2001.

eBay's own 13 April 2020 appointment release says he worked at the company as a vice president and in other leadership roles from 2001 to 2009.

The same release lists the desks he later held: global search, buyer experience, and tailored shopping experience.

By 2001 the company had already left its first rented suite at 2005 Hamilton and expanded across the old Greylands Business Park.

A 2008 company media page still printed the headquarters as 2145 Hamilton Avenue, San Jose.

The numbered buildings sit on the same Willow Glen block the firm occupies today at 2025 Hamilton Avenue.

Barnes and Noble's 23 June 2009 appointment note recorded his last eBay title as vice president of global search.

That was the largest single investment area at the company when he left.

He walked out of this campus in 2009 for a Fifth Avenue digital job.

Eleven years later the board asked him back to the same street.
