Ikseon-dong packs 1920s hanok into alleys that barely take two people abreast. Brick, timber, overhead wires, a tower at the end of the lane that does not belong to the roofs.

True Beauty used this neighborhood when Ju-kyung's new school friends pulled her into ordinary Seoul. Namdo Bunsik's Ikseon branch sat for a meal. COMCOM's arcade sat for an afternoon. The production needed a place that already looked like a set and was not one.

The street is public. Shops turn over. The plan of the 166-beonji block has not. VisitKorea lists Ikseon-dong Hanok Street as a free walk from Jongno 3-ga, exits 4 and 6. Korea Tourism Organization photographs of the lane still show planters, lanterns, and the same pinch-point where everyone pauses for a picture.

Eat standing up if the tables are full. The drama's friendship scenes work because the alley is too narrow for a grand entrance. You arrive the way Ju-kyung did: one shoulder at a time, already in the shot.
