The Hobbit | Hobbiton Movie Set — The Contract Leaves Bag End

Bilbo Baggins begins with a tidy pantry and a closed round door. Then thirteen dwarves eat through his supper, Gandalf leaves a contract behind, and Bag End becomes too small for the life waiting outside it. Hobbiton is where that hesitation was given a real horizon: green folds of Waikato pasture, smoking chimneys, vegetable plots, and the road that makes one more step feel like departure.

For The Hobbit trilogy, the village was rebuilt as a lasting set rather than a temporary illusion. A guided visit now carries travellers past the hobbit holes, mill and Green Dragon Inn inside the working Alexander farm. It is a ticketed attraction, not an open public park; stay with the tour route and respect the farm around it.

This is the place to remember Bilbo before riddles, dragons and war—when courage meant signing his name and running down a lane without a handkerchief.
