Playful Kiss|Jeju Africa Museum — The Honeymoon Hall Built Like Djenné

The Jeju Africa Museum sits on Ieodo-ro in Jungmun, a clay-colored hall modeled on the Great Mosque of Djenné and opened so that visitors to the tourist complex would walk through African masks, instruments, and a small performance stage instead of another teddy-bear shop.

Episode 15 of Playful Kiss sends Oh Ha-ni and Baek Seung-jo here on their honeymoon. The series has already moved them from a shared house in Seoul to a marriage license. The museum is the first public room on the island the cameras give them as a couple rather than as classmates.

The pin is 49 Ieodo-ro, Seogwipo. The building is five minutes from the Daepo columnar-joint coast. You buy a ticket. You stand under the same mud-brick silhouette the crew used in 2010. The collection is still there. So is the oddness of a West African form on a Jeju cliff road.

Ha-ni did not come to Jeju as a tourist who had always traveled. She came as the girl who used to fail exams in the same kitchen Seung-jo cooked in. The museum does not explain that. It only holds the hour when the plot finally let them walk through a door that was not their parents' house.
