Biography|Emily Buening — The Law School on Jungiusstrasse

People assume a German party manager studied politics.

Buening studied law, in a glass library built for a private faculty of one hundred students a year.

From 2004 to 2009 she read Rechtswissenschaft at Bucerius Law School, Jungiusstrasse 6, 20355 Hamburg, with a focus on public international and European law.

The school, opened in 2000 by the ZEIT-Stiftung, occupies the old University of Hamburg horticulture buildings beside Planten un Blomen.

A visitor coming from Dammtor still sees the glazed library added in 2007 before the main door.

Munzinger and the Heinrich Boell Foundation both record an exchange trimester at the Universidad Autonoma de Madrid during that degree.

She was a scholar of the Heinrich Boell Foundation, the Green-adjacent political foundation that later posted her to Beirut for part of the Referendariat.

Bucerius's own alumni profile dates her first appearance on a world stage to October 2009, when she spoke at the United Nations General Assembly as one of two German youth delegates, still barely finished with the first state exam.

The same year she was already political manager of the Green Youth at federal level.

The campus is a working law school, not a museum of her career.

Do not walk the library stacks looking for a plaque. There is none.
