People treat a Green leadership vote as a hall packed with delegates.

On 29 January 2022 most of the hall was a screen.

The 47th ordinary federal delegates' conference of Buendnis 90/Die Gruenen ran as a hybrid meeting from the Velodrom on Paul-Heyse-Strasse in Prenzlauer Berg.

Sueddeutsche Zeitung described a thin floor of known faces under the roof while more than eight hundred delegates sat at home.

Buening was elected political federal managing director on the Saturday, succeeding Michael Kellner, who had moved to the economics ministry.

Politik und Kommunikation recorded 88.4 percent on the conference vote.

The party later published a postal-ballot figure of 91.44 percent when it announced the new board on 14 February 2022.

FAZ placed her as the last person off the Velodrom stage after 23:00 that Saturday, the first of the fifteen conferences she had organised at which she stood on the podium as a candidate rather than as the organiser.

She held the political post until 16 November 2024.

Pegah Edalatian succeeded her.

In January 2026 she became co-managing director of the development NGO INKOTA in Berlin, a later chapter pinned elsewhere if at all, and not to a current private office.

The Velodrom is a public arena.
