甲山の中腹に立つ神呪寺は、2009年版「エンドレスエイト」でSOS団が蝉取りをする舞台のモデル。捕まえた蝉を一斉に放す場面では、眼下に広がる西宮の街と夏空へ小さな命が戻っていく。団員たちは知る由もないが、彼らの夏休みは同じ二週間を延々と反復しており、この解放の光景さえ何千、何万回と繰り返された。爽快な夕景と逃れられない時間の輪が重なることで、シリーズでも特に切ない巡礼地になっている。石段は「朝比奈ミクルの冒険」のロケ場面にも面影を残す。
ここは観光施設ではなく、参拝が続く真言宗の寺院。境内では礼拝者を優先し、堂内や行事の撮影規則を確認すること。急な石段では通路を塞がず、蝉や自然を捕まえずに、展望地点から夏の音と街並みを味わいたい。
