Esports|Overwatch 2|Florida Mayhem — The 4-0 Grand Final at Mattamy Athletic Centre

On October 1, 2023, Florida Mayhem and Houston Outlaws sat onstage inside Toronto’s Mattamy Athletic Centre for the Grand Final of the sixth Overwatch League season. The publisher-run championship used the arena built within the former Maple Leaf Gardens, not an online server or an organizer’s office. Florida’s title roster paired tank Ham “Someone” Jeong-wan with damage players Baek “Checkmate” Seung-hun, Choi “MER1T” Tae-min and Lee “WhoRU” Seung-jun, plus supports Rupal “Rupal” Zaman, Sung “CH0R0NG” Yoo-min and Oh “MAKA” Eun-seok. Houston’s finals roster included tanks Lee “Fearless” Eui-seok and Shin “BERNAR” Se-won, damage players Lee “Happy” Jung-woo and Oh “Pelican” Se-hyun, and supports Kim “Shu” Jin-seo and Park “Viol2t” Min-ki. This was Overwatch 2 on league PCs, distinct from the six-player original Overwatch covered elsewhere: each team fielded one tank, two damage players, and two supports. The first side to win four maps took the best-of-seven series, and the playoffs used the September 7 balance patch during Season 6: Invasion; public records identify that patch state but do not disclose a tournament build number. Florida won Antarctic Peninsula 2–1 in Control rounds, then took Blizzard World 3–2 by pushing the Hybrid map’s payload farther through its checkpoints. Suravasa followed at 3–2 in Flashpoint objectives, before a 1–0 win on Esperança in Push ended the match; these numbers measure captured rounds, checkpoints, flashpoints, or robot progress rather than player eliminations. The map-level result was therefore a 4–0 sweep, but every map required Florida to claim the last available objective margin. Houston had reached the final by sweeping Hangzhou Spark 3–0 earlier that day, while Florida had beaten Boston Uprising 3–1 and completed the playoff tournament without a match loss. The victory delivered the franchise’s first Overwatch League championship and the $1 million first prize. MER1T, who had played for Houston the previous season, received Grand Finals MVP after Florida closed four maps without conceding one. Toronto Metropolitan University lists the Mattamy Athletic Centre at 50 Carlton Street and identifies it as the athletic complex created inside Maple Leaf Gardens. Blizzard’s later commemoration places Florida’s 2023 championship at this venue, while the official league recording and Reuters’ contemporary report preserve the opponents, final score, individual map scores, and award.
