People treat Coursera as a Stanford-professor startup that always had a finance chief executive.

Jeff Maggioncalda replaced Rick Levin, the former Yale president who had run Coursera since 2014.

MarketScreener later listed his start date as 12 June 2017.

He had spent 1996 to early 2015 as founding chief executive of Financial Engines.

Coursera listed on the New York Stock Exchange as COUR on 31 March 2021 at 33 dollars a share.

He left the chief-executive chair in early 2025.
