The first episode sends Hotaru and Kokonotsu past a short flight of stone steps, fast enough that the place registers as motion before it becomes geography. Those steps belong to Jingūzan Enmeiji, beside Mitsubashira Shrine in Takeoka. The anime does not need the whole temple. It takes the incline, retaining wall, railings, and compressed village road, then uses them to announce the story’s pace: a sleepy seaside town has just been invaded by someone who treats cheap candy as a matter of destiny.

In person, the stairs are smaller and quieter than the cut suggests. That is exactly why they work. Approach without blocking the lane, keep voices low, and remember that this remains a place of worship rather than a set. Look back from the foot of the steps; the road bends out of sight almost immediately, preserving the feeling that Hotaru has only just run ahead.
