だがしかし | 竹岡川の鉄道橋 — A Train Draws the Town’s Horizon

The railway bridge crosses the village at exactly the height needed to become part of だがしかし’s visual grammar. Trains do not dominate Takeoka; they appear, make their brief metallic interruption, and disappear behind roofs and trees. In the animation, that line fixes Shikada Dagashi within a believable world. Kokonotsu may be trapped in another absurd lesson about sweets, but the Uchibō Line continues toward the next coastal town.

Seen from the public road near the river, the bridge is practical infrastructure—concrete, steel, ballast, and warning signs. Do not approach the tracks or step onto private land for a cleaner angle. Wait at a safe distance. The reward is temporal rather than architectural: silence gathers, the rails begin to hum, and a local train cuts across the opening before the green hillside closes behind it again.
