Before the lanterns are lit in episode 7, Kokonotsu and Yō come to the shrine-like grounds to prepare their annual monjayaki stall. Hotaru arrives with her encyclopedic conviction that even this griddle snack belongs to the history of dagashi shops, then admits something unexpectedly simple: she has never been to a summer festival. The setting modeled on Sekidōzan Fudō-in carries both halves of the episode—the daylight work of building a stall and the night when candy, games, and affection briefly share the same path.

The real Fudō-in is a living Buddhist temple, not a permanent festival set. Visit quietly, avoid ceremonies, and ask before photographing people. Without anime lanterns, notice the compact courtyard, the approach, and the mature trees that make the space feel enclosed. At dusk, the last light stays above the roofline while the ground darkens first; that small change is enough to recall Hotaru discovering a familiar world as if it were new.
